Meet Scott Eckelman, PGA
WHETHER IT’S the shirt and tie he occasionally wears to man the golf shop on a Sunday, his fastidious attention to the detail or his reputation as a swing doctor, Scott Eckelman has forged a reputation as a pro’s pro in his two decades in the golf industry.
A PGA Class “A” pro since 2013, Eckelman joins Candlewood Valley Country Club after spending the previous 10 seasons as the first assistant at the prestigious Anglebrook Golf Club in northern Westchester. In that time, the 38-year-old has given countless private lessons and group clinics to players of all skill levels, coordinated hundreds of tournaments and events, and demonstrated his knowledge of product and retail displays by increasing pro shop sales annually.
Before he turned his focus to managing golf operations, Scott also made his mark as a player, competing in dozens of MET Section PGA assistant professional events, and was runner-up in a San Diego Golf Academy match play tournament in 2006.
Scott graduated from the Golf Academy of the Carolinas with certificate in Advance Teaching, Tournament Operations and Club Repair in 2006, and launched his career at TPC Prestancia in Sarasota, Florida, as assistant professional. The following season, he moved back north to become the First Assistant Golf Professional at Anglebrook.
His athletic achievements aren’t limited to just golf. Scott was a second-team All-Star Placekicker at Mahopac (NY) High School, where he started from 1996-98, and was also listed in the Gridiron Great Guide as a top football prospect. He has also bowled a rare perfect game of 300.
While he is eager to throw himself into his new role, he also knows that after establishing his high standards for customer service, that everything else will fall into place, specifically “creating the natural bond with passionate golfers and dedicated co-workers who take pride in their roles working to grow the great game of golf.”
Scott grew up in Mahopac, and now resides in Danbury, with his wife, Siobhan, and three children, Hailey (15), Emily (5) and Tyler (2). During his time off he dotes on his kids, and fanatically supports his beloved New York Jets.
