Scribner & Cummings Crowned “Big Dog Champs”

It was a festive weekend at Candlewood August 25-27, during the 2017 Men’s League Member Guest Weekend. Friday evening welcomed all participants of the Member Guest Weekend with the opening round of the Putting Contest Qualifier, followed by a steak dinner. The Putting Contest Qualifier continued into darkness Friday Night.

Tournament action started Saturday with 4 Flights and 3 – 9 Hole Rounds with the Putting Contest Finals early Saturday evening – The team of Geoff Klinger and Robert Gollow came from behind an won the putting contest. The tournament continued Sunday with the same 4 flights and 2 – 9 Hole Rounds, followed by a lunch break and the Big Dog Shootout which consisted of each flights winning teams.

Overall First Place Winners By Flight:

  • Flight #1: John Bailey and Jim Vonhoorn
  • Flight #2: Geoff Klinger and Robert Gollow
  • Flight #3: Gary Scribner and Art Cummings
  • Flight #4: Don LaJoie and Chet Osiecki

The Big Dog Shootout consisted of the first place winners by flight playing out 3 holes – #16-18. In the end on Hole #18 Gary Scribner and Art Cummings putted out for the win, to be crowned the Big Dog Champions. Celebrations ensued on the 18th Green and into the restaurant afterwards well in to the early evening.

The Candlewood Valley CC Chapter of Stand Up & Play in New Milford, CT presents their 2nd Annual Golf  Tournament starting at 8:30 AM Friday September 22, 2017. The Entry Fee is $130 per Golfer with proceeds going to the Stand Up and Play Foundation.

Candlewood Valley Country Club is proud of being one of only three facilities in Connecticut who provide access to an onsite Paramobile Golf Cart for free. Over the off season Candlewood was able to add two (2) more paramobiles to the fleet. We are an active supporter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation and we are committed to helping the physically challenged share in the joy of golf.

Candlewood Valley Country Club and the Candlewood Valley Country Club Men’s League is proud to introduce the 2017 Member Guest Golf Tournament to be held Friday August 25, Saturday August 26 and Sunday August 27, 2017. This 3 Day Event starts Friday with a Putting Contest Qualifier followed by a Cocktail Party and Table served Dinner to open the weekend. Saturday the day starts with Registration and Breakfast at the 10th tee, followed by 3 – 9 Hole Rounds with a Grill Lunch in between. Rounding out the Day on Saturday are the Putting Contest Finals. On Sunday, the tournament wraps up with Registration and Breakfast at the 10th tee, followed by 2 – 9 Hole Rounds with a Grill Lunch in between rounds.

The cost is $390* per team, which consists of One Men’s League Member and One Guest. Entries Close Friday August 4, 2017 and the players field is limited to 30 teams.

Please download and fill out an entry application to register your team. Cash, Credit/Debit, and Check accepted. Please make checks payable to Candlewood Valley Country Club. Then either bring your payment and completed application down to the Golf Shop or you may mail the completed application with payment to:
